WHY IS THE BOXER ENGINE IS SUPER COOL? - BOXER ENGINES EXPLAINED.

BOXER ENGINES: INTRODUCTION:                          We all know various engine setups and designs. The INLINE and the V engines are the most common in this automotive world . There's also a different kind of engine that holds up its heritage from the end of the 18th century  till date ,that's THE BOXER ENGINE!!. WHY SO THE NAME BOXER??                             Boxer engines are powerful, efficient and way loud than the other engines ,they are also called as Horizontally opposed engines .The name boxer is given due its odd firing order of pistons and its arrangement .                             In a inline engine the pistons are straight but in a Boxer engine the pistons are faced opposite to each other and also their movement is similar to a boxer ,using his ...

7 COMMON MISUSED TECHNICAL TERMS YOU MUST BE AWARE OF

MISUSED TECH TERMS

INTRODUCTION:

Technology is everywhere, In this tech influenced world we use many technical terms in our daily life. At most of the times we use those words wrongly without knowing its actual meaning even i have done that a lot.so let us get to know about 7 commonly misunderstood tech terms.

1.HARD DISK:

Everybody knows that the hard disk in our computer is a storage device , SSD's are also storage devices .We often see people mentioning SSD's as a hard disk , But it is completely wrong .The term HARD DISK refers only a physical hard disk not an SSD.We know that the SSD is way different from a Physical Hard Disk . HARD refers to a mechanically rotating part ,and DISK refers to the rotating magnetic disk inside a hard disk. SSD's are not hard right.
So next time do not call the SSD and a HARD DISK collectively as "HARD DISK".  To avoid confusions we can mention them collectively as storage devices.

2.DISC vs DISK:

Almost 90% of us still dont know the difference between them using them in our daily life.
Disk is different from a Disc although the have same sound when pronounced . Lets see the difference between them.

DISC:

A disc refers to optical media, such as an CD, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM,. Some discs are read-only (ROM), others allow you to burn content (write files) to the disc once (such as a CD-R or DVD-R, and some can be erased and rewritten over many times (such as CD-RW, DVD-RW, and DVD-RAM discs).
All discs are removable, Which means you can unmount or eject the disc from your desktop or Player, it physically comes out of your computer. To make it simple, Everyone of us used a old DVD player Right. Those CD's are called DISC.

DISK:

A disk refers to magnetic media, such as a floppy disk, the disk in your computer's hard drive, an external hard drive. Disks are always rewritable unless they are intentionally locked or write-protected. You can easily partition a disk into several smaller volumes, like in your computer.
Disks are usually sealed inside a metal or plastic casing. often, a disk and its enclosing mechanism are collectively known as a "hard drive". Don't get confused with the floppy as the floppy contains a magnetic disk inside it it is called as a DISK.

3.THE GPU:

We can see many people speaking about the GPU , But calling a RTX 2080 a gpu is wrong .The term GPU refers to the Graphical Processing Unit present inside a Video Card .Which actually does the graphical processing. The entire setup or module is called as an Graphics Card or a Video Card. For example RTX 2080 is a Graphics Card using Turing TU104 GPU.
So don't call the RTX 2080 a GPU.
Also our mobile phones have GPU,they are part of the mobiles Soc . they are integrated. So don't call Adreno 610 a GPU.it is a part of Soc.

 4.BYTE vs BIT:

We often confuse between these terms , A BYTE is larger than a BIT , Right from our internet speed and copying speeds everything are mentioned by these terms. We all use them daily right.
At basic level all computer data is just a series of 0s and 1s.And they are called as binary numbers. BIT is just a abbreviation for Binary digits.A BYTE is a collection of 8-Bits. Similarly 4-bits form a nybble .That's half the Byte.
All our internet speed is mentioned or showed only in bits. Say for example 10 Mbps. Refers to 10 Mega bits per second.
So next time don't say I have a 100 Mega byte internet connection.
Likewise our data transfer speeds mentioned in hard disks and our thumb drives are mentioned in Bytes .Say for example write speed of 50 MB/s. That refers to Mega Bytes per seconds.
To keep it remember in short Mb refers to Mega bit . MB  refers to Mega Byte.

 5.RESOLUTION:

We can notice many Television ads and Montior ads mentioning 4K UHD , FHD , QHD etc. We can notice the term HD everywhere nowadays. So what do they actually represent.
SD is 640 x 480 (480p)
HD is 1280 x 720 (720p)
FHD is 1920 x 1080 (1080p)
QHD is 2560 x 1440 (1440p)
UHD is 3840 x 2160 (4k)

2K and 4k refers to cinematic resolution. A real 2k is just a slightly wide 1080p resolution. So don't get attractive by those marketing terms. Manufacturer's usually use these tricks to sell a low res panel as a HD one so be aware. Also 4K cinematic resolution has more pixel density than a consumer UHD display. So be aware next time while buying a Monitor or a TV.

6.WATER PROOF vs WATER RESISTANT:

We can see many consumer products now marketed as water resistant .But water resistant is different from water proof. We can often notice many people mentioning their mobiles as water proof . Actually they are water resistant,We can see Their IP ratings such as IP68 etc. Which means it can withstand water to a certain level .We can't take pictures under the sea with Samsung Galaxy note 10 . It is just rated IP68, using the Ingress Protection rating system. The dust rating is 6, and the water resistance rating is 8 (water-resistant up to 5 feet for up to 30 minutes. So don't believe in products advertised as Water Proof.

 7.GAMEPAD vs JOYSTICK:
GAMEPAD

We can see some gamers asking for a joystick at a retail store. And the shopkeeper gives a gamepad or a joypad .
And the gamer buys that and move on happily. "Wait! Wait! He asked for a Joystick". Seems a bit confusing right. Yes A joystick is different from a Gamepad usually most of us buy a gamepad .PS and Xbox comes with a gamepad .
gamepad is a type of game controller held in both hands and controlled with the thumbs.which we can see on most consoles

JOYSTICK
while joystick is a mechanical device consisting of a handgrip mounted on a base or pedestal and typically having one or more buttons, used to control an aircraft, computer or other equipment. Which we can use in Flight Simulators.
So next time ask for a Gamepad not a Joystick.

CONCLUSION:

Almost everyone of us are using these terms daily without knowing how wrong we are .This post give you a confidence to speak tech words and correct our friends while they use tech terms wrongly. Hope this post is useful to everyone and mention some other words In comments section.
